Jace Knox, better known as Jasoh, is a rapper, producer, and songwriter known for his experimental beats and ability to craft music that’s intense, unapologetic, and gritty. In addition to music, he designs for Fang, a self-produced production company and record label founded in 2026 in Oklahoma City.
With ROOFIEZ out now, we took some time to hear from Jasoh. Read below to learn more about Jasoh, the story behind ROOFIEZ, and what’s to come.
Hi Jasoh! Let’s start with how did you choose your stage name?
My friend at the time had an Instagram username that used “Jasoh” that I really liked. I stole it and used it for my musical brand. We both thought it was funny.
What city are you from, and where are you based now?
I was born and raised in Edmond, Oklahoma, where I still live. Though, I plan to travel more later down the road.
At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music? How did you get started?
When I was 13, I began producing and mixing, and I made many releases under my first and last name, Jace Knox. What got me into it was my scattered influences at the time. I then retracted most of those old recordings and began Jasoh, with my first release being an Alt-Rock song called “Beautiful” in 2025.
How would you describe your sound?
It’s definitely gritty, but beautiful to me. Despite that, I love what I’ve created.
Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?
I enjoy designing clothes for my clothing brand, Fang. I have numerous concepts that I create, but only a few of them make it into my own wardrobe. I’d love to share these designs with the world someday.
Who are some of your main musical influences?
Honestly, my influences are pretty broad, I pull ideas from many different kinds of music. I’m especially influenced by artists who build their own worlds around their music rather than treating each song as a one-off, isolated release. I like music that has a strong personality and feels like it could only have been made by that particular artist.
Who would be a dream to collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with ScHoolboy Q someday, I think he’s great.
What’s one of the proudest moments of your music career so far?
Having the ability to create music that not only pulls me in, but also compels others to pause and truly listen. Additionally, I’ve achieved a powerful sound that I never imagined possible when I was 13 or 14.
What would you say are the greatest lessons that you’ve learned so far?
Patience is key, and if you work hard enough without losing yourself in the process, your efforts will be noticed.
Now onto your release, ROOFIEZ. What inspired this album?
Reflecting on my life before turning 18, I realized how I was moving through life without much intention. I started to reflect on my past experiences and developed an ambition that I was able to match with this album. As a result, I finally felt in control of my musical journey more than I ever had before.
What is the overall theme of ROOFIEZ?
Realizing that what you perceive at first might not be the actual circumstance. I say, “Thinking it was the sh*t you felt, but that was all in my mind, I’m all by myself” in the final track as I realize the aggression and how I perceived it might have been more one-sided than I initially thought.
What was the inspiration behind the cover artwork for ROOFIEZ?
Honestly, not much. I found a cool stock photo of a woman on my photo editor and picked the font from its font library to use. The combination of the photo and the color scheme created a visual style I really liked.
What was the creative process like when making ROOFIEZ?
I was working at my retail job at the time, and during my lunch breaks or my days off, I would work on the album. I used a bunch of different sounds from one sound library that all sounded like they belonged in the same world and learning what works and what didn’t during that time.
How long did it take to complete ROOFIEZ?
Only about five months.
Is there a specific song on ROOFIEZ that speaks to you the most? If so, why?
I loved “TELEPHONE / MORE THAN FRIENDS.” The song has this hype element that later transitions into an emotional contrast, which I found to be a perfect combination that the album didn’t explore as heavily before.
What do you hope fans take away from ROOFIEZ and your music in general?
This is a serious project that I deeply care about. I have a passion for it, and that passion drives me to keep coming back to it.
What’s next? Are you working on any upcoming projects, or do you have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?
Absolutely, I have several exciting projects in the works that I can’t wait to share with the world once they’re ready.
