With “Making Money Moves” out now, we took some time to hear from J Eden. Read below to learn more about J Eden, the story behind “Making Money Moves,” and what’s to come.
Hi! Let’s start with how did the artist name come about?
The name J Eden came from part of the three of our names.
What city are you all from, and where are you all based now?
Born and raised in Chicago, and still here.
At what point in your lives did you all decide to pursue a career in music? How did you all get started?
J: I was always a rapper, and even had a few songs under different names. The other two, one likes Country Music, and one Dance Music. Two of us met in high school (Ed), and the other (En) was a friend of a friend who was a rapper, and introduced us. And, we decided to combine all our genres together.
How would you all describe your group’s sound to readers who may not be familiar with you all?
J: Well, it’s a mix of Country, Rap, and Dance, With the Dance music borderlining a Techno House, and the Country Music, we decided to mix Country Music with Rap, since (Ed) was a fan of both of them
Do you all have any hobbies outside of music? What do you all do to stay creative?
J: Work, work, work! We all have Jobs. We stay creative by writing (when we are together which a feat in itself).
Who are some of your group’s main musical influences?
Ed: Wooo, that’s a hard question because we like so many. Have to get back to you on that one.
What’s one of the proudest moments of your group’s music career so far?
J: The proudest moment, so far, is how our music is received in a positive light, and it’s getting good feedback.
What would you all say are the greatest lessons that you’ve all learned so far?
J: Patience! All things don’t come together and get recognized easily.
Now onto ‘Making Money Moves.’ What inspired this song? What is ‘Making Money Moves’ about?
Ed: ‘Making Money Moves’ is an anthem about ambition, hustle, and determination.
What was the creative process like when making ‘Making Money Moves?’
En: Being broke all the time. Haha.
How long did it take to complete ‘Making Money Moves?’
Ed: Once we had the lyrics, it moved pretty fast. It was about getting the studio and laying the track down.
What is your guys’ favorite lyric in ‘Making Money Moves’ and why?
J: I like the whole song actually, I can’t pick one verse. Music isn’t just a hobby for me—it’s the language my heart speaks.
What message or messages do you all hope fans take away from ‘Making Money Moves’ and your group’s music in general?
En: What drives us is the way music connects people. A song can lift someone out of sadness, inspire them to keep going, or bring back a memory long forgotten.
What’s next for you all? Are you all working on any upcoming projects, or do you all have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?
J: Actually, we have a total of three singles out. Dance (‘Dance Through The Waves’), Country/Rap (‘Stepping Tonight’) and of course ‘Money Moves.’ All currently available now (wink, wink), haha.
