With “Fairy” out now, we took some time to hear from GOHAR. Read below to learn more about GOHAR, the story behind “Fairy,” and what’s to come.

Hi GOHAR! Let’s start with: how did you choose your artist name?

Hi! I chose this artist name because it’s simply my first name. Gohar is an Armenian name that means gemstone or jewel, and I felt that is beautiful.

What city are you from, and where are you based now?

I was born in Gumri, Armenia, and I’m now based in Salzburg, Austria.

At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music? How did you get started?

My parents took me to music school when I was five years old, and that’s where everything began. At eleven, I discovered opera singing and completely fell in love with it. For years, I was convinced I’d become an opera star, and after earning my Bachelor’s degree in Opera Singing at the University Mozarteum Salzburg, I became curious about writing my own music. Learning music production opened up a whole new world for me and made me realize that creating my own songs was what truly fulfilled me.

How would you describe your sound?

My sound is deeply influenced by years of classical training. I’d describe it as warm, resonant, and emotionally driven.

Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?

Outside of music, I like to keep my creativity alive in different ways. I love dancing, drawing, practicing yoga, and playing story-driven RPG games.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

Some of my biggest musical influences are W. A. Mozart, Claude Debussy, Nina Simone, and Maria Callas.

What’s one of the proudest moments of your music career so far?

One of my proudest moments was hearing from a fan who said they’d been listening to my music non-stop for a week. Knowing my songs could resonate with someone on that level means more than any number could.

What would you say are the greatest lessons that you’ve learned so far?

I’ve learned that I have to stay true to myself no matter what. I don’t have to fit the industry’s expectations – there’s a place for my art, and there are people who genuinely connect with what I create.

Now onto your release, “Fairy.” What inspired this song?

“Fairy” came from a very personal place. I wanted to write about what it feels like to slowly reconnect with yourself after losing pieces of who you are along the way. It’s my reminder that healing is really about coming home to yourself.

What was the inspiration behind the cover artwork for “Fairy?”

I wanted the cover to reflect the lyrics as closely as possible. The way I’m looking down represents searching for the pieces that “got lost in me,” while the heart shape I’m making with my hands symbolizes the lyric about my heart “going silent.” Every detail is connected to the story the song is trying to tell.

What was the creative process like when making “Fairy?”

It felt very natural. Once I found the idea of the fairy in the garden, the lyrics started coming together. The production took a bit more time because I wanted it to capture the atmosphere and emotion of the song as closely as possible!

How long did it take to complete “Fairy?”

It took me about two months from start to finish. When I feel truly inspired, songs tend to come together quite quickly – not because I’m rushing, but because I’m completely immersed in the creative process.

What do you hope fans take away from “Fairy” and your music in general?

I hope people listen to “Fairy” and feel understood. We all lose parts of ourselves along the way, and I hope this song reminds people that it’s never too late to find their way back. More than anything, I want my music to make people feel a little less alone.

What’s next? Are you working on any upcoming projects, or do you have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?

I’ve been focusing on recording new music, but I’m currently putting together a live show for some upcoming performances, which I can’t announce just yet. I’ve been so busy creating that I haven’t had as much time for social media, but there’s a lot more music and exciting things on the way!
