Eighteen-year-old singer-songwriter Hailey Hermida unveils her second single of the year, “17.” “17” is an angsty Pop-Punk, Pop Rock record. The song’s punchy instrumentation blends perfectly with the songstress’ raw vocals and emotive lyrics.
“17” is an anger-release anthem. “I wrote this song the day after having a huge fight with my friends, which, ironically, was a week before my eighteenth birthday.” Hailey Hermida continues, “It was written as a release of anger from the overwhelming judgement cast on you at that age, all while you are your most vulnerable.” Apart from the track’s personal inspiration, “17” resonates with all as it also dives into the complexities of growing up. Hailey Hermida states: “Seventeen is a weird age. Life feels more serious. You make mistakes trying to fill the role of the adult that you’re expected to act as, despite still being so young. To make it all so much more confusing, emotions run ten times heavier and harder all while you’re still trying to figure out who you are.”
The captivating jam was produced by GRAMMY-nominated producer Riley Urick. The budding musician is rapidly making a name for herself as she already has graced stages at iconic venues, such as The Whisky and Troubadour. Teen sensation Hailey Hermida is a soon-to-be superstar.
