His universe sits somewhere between French Touch nostalgia, summer road-trip soundtracks and a good conversation with friends over a drink.
With “Panique Panique” out now, we took some time to hear from Seb Banger. Read below to learn more about Seb Banger, the story behind “Panique Panique,” and what’s to come.
Hi Seb Banger! Let’s start with how did you choose your artist name?
I wanted a name that sounded fun and didn’t take itself too seriously. “Seb” comes from my first name, and “Banger” is a funny way to refer to catchy songs… Of course, this was selected with full irony!!
What city are you from, and where are you based now?
I’m originally from Paris, but I’ve been living in London for many years.
At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music? How did you get started?
I’ve always been passionate about music and particularly drawn to the piano. For years, I would come up with melodies and musical ideas without really having a way to turn them into complete songs. The arrival of AI-assisted music creation changed that. It allowed me to take simple piano themes and creative concepts and transform them into fully produced tracks. Seb Banger became a way to mix my love for melody, storytelling and humour into songs that reflect modern life in a light-hearted and entertaining way.
How would you describe your sound?
I would describe it as French electro-pop with strong French Touch influences. My songs usually combine catchy melodies, electronic grooves and spoken-word storytelling. I like creating tracks that are fun on the surface but also reflect something people recognise from everyday life.
Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?
Tennis, Ski and of course going to Ile de Re!!
Who are some of your main musical influences?
I love French electronic music and artists who manage to combine strong melodies with personality and storytelling.
What’s one of the proudest moments of your music career so far?
I don’t know if we can talk about a music career… ahah, would rather talk about a hobby at this stage, will see where it goes!!
What would you say are the greatest lessons that you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson is that making music is only half the job. The hardest part is getting people to actually hear it. I’m still learning that part myself and, to be honest, I’m not very good at it! If anyone reading this has advice, I’m all ears.
Now onto your release, “Panique Panique.” What inspired this song?
“Panique Panique” was inspired by the beautiful chaos of modern family life in. It’s a humorous look at those moments when everything seems to happen at once: children, schedules, unexpected problems and daily stress. I wanted to turn those little moments of panic that every parent recognises into something fun, light-hearted and relatable.
What was the inspiration behind the cover artwork for “Panique Panique?”
I wanted the artwork to reflect the playful and slightly chaotic spirit of the song. The character represents me trying to keep everything under control while the world around me becomes increasingly unpredictable.
What was the creative process like when making “Panique Panique?”
The song started with an idea and a story rather than a musical genre. I began by writing down situations and observations that I found funny and relatable. From there, I built the lyrics, created the melody around a piano theme and gradually shaped the production into something upbeat and energetic. The goal was always to make people laugh while still creating a genuinely catchy song.
How long did it take to complete “Panique Panique?”
The initial idea came together quite quickly, but refining the lyrics, melody and production took several weeks until my wife (“the boss”) was convinced it was good enough… I tend to revisit songs many times, testing different versions until the humour, rhythm and music all feel balanced.
What do you hope fans take away from “Panique Panique” and your music in general?
I hope people smile and have a good time. I hope listeners recognise a little bit of themselves in the stories I tell.
What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects, or do you have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?
I’m currently working on several new songs that continue exploring everyday life, modern culture and social trends through a humorous lens… The goal is to keep building the Seb Banger universe one story at a time. No live dates to announce yet, but plenty of new music is on the way!!
