With her single, “Lovebomb Letters,” out now, we took some time to hear more from Natalie Good. Read below to learn more about Natalie Good, the story behind her single, and what’s to come.

Hi Natalie Good! Let’s start with how did you get your artist name?

My artist name is actually my birth name, Natalie Good!

What city are you from and where are you based now?

I’m from north West London, currently based in a town called Barnet.

At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music? How did you get started?

I was 13 years old and I developed a spine disease called Scoliosis. To avoid life changing spine surgery, I had to spend the next three years for 22 hours a day wearing a plastic back brace which restricted my mobility meaning I had to give up dance, Jujitsu, and swimming lessons. I was also taking medication for my ADHD at this point, a side affect from the medication was depression… I had a lot to process and no physical outlet… I sat down at my family piano and started teaching myself how to play music by listening to songs and playing by ear…and then, one day, I started writing my own songs as a form of therapy; I guess I never stopped…

Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound today? If so, how?

The first song that I remember hearing was, “Back to life” Soul II Soul… I remember replaying it over and over on my little tape recorder (because I’m a late 90’s chick). I believe this has had a massive influence on my songwriting as it is where I learned how to harmonise, call and response, and run with a soulful tone.

How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?

My sound changes a lot depending on what I’m going through in my life… This year’s inspired by 90’s-00’s Pop/Soul and RnB, next year’s project is atmospherical/cinematic Pop!

Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?

I love working out, being out in nature, traveling, exploring, and meeting new people who I’ll never see again… To stay creative, I have a subscription to this website called, “Splice,” where I pay a monthly subscription to download samples to use for my production… I use these samples as a foundation for my songs if I’m feeling blocked off from creating music myself.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

VOCAL INFLUENCES: P!nk, Jessie J, Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Christina, and Sia.

What are some of your future music career goals?

I want to be making a living from releasing music and touring as a professional, successful and established singer-songwriter with an organic fanbase. I want my music to land big sync deals!

Now onto your release, “Lovebomb Letters.” What inspired this song?

This song is about my ex. I broke up with him after a year of showering him with my love, passion, patience, time, effort, support and giving him my everything, thinking we were happily in love only to discover a lot of unnecessary lies about numerous things in his life. I felt so betrayed by him and no longer could trust him, so I had to leave him. It’s a love/hate that I don’t want you back, but I’m hurting bad break up song…

What is “Lovebomb Letters” about in your own words?

“Lovebomb Letters” is about my previous breakup. I was so in love with somebody who I was with for a year and moved in with. We were just about to buy a dog together, and we would always talk about having a family together as well as marriage. I was throwing him a surprise birthday party and accidentally unraveled a load of lies that he had told me about his life whilst I suggested a party game of trivia questionnaires on his life, 25 questions for his 25th birthday to his grandma and sister. These lies progressed from silly small things about working with rappers in LA to larger lies about women in my life who were my friends and much more…He would always accuse me of being unfaithful, and go through my phone and laptop looking for reasons to stop me talking to my male friends… He would make me unfollow any guy he felt threatened by and stop me from doing abroad work contracts incase somebody “ended up fancying me on the job”… Now, I realise it was him projecting all of his wrong doings and insecurity on to me, everything he was doing himself, which is why he was so paranoid in the first place. He then committed identity theft fraud against me with his own mother which completely turned my world upside down, and I had to have lots of therapy for… Since then, as a part of my healing process, I’ve written this song among many others which will feature on my upcoming EP, “Close to closure,” before the end of this year…

What is your favorite lyric in “Lovebomb Letters” and why?

“Lovebomb Letters, Should have known better, Preying on my peace while you’re getting you’re pleasure” – this is because when I was asking him to leave me alone and give me space to heal and think, he was already with somebody new whilst he was still trying to win me over and get me back, calling me crying, telling me he loves me and lying about this new girl… I considered that behaviour from him, “preying on my peace of mind whilst he was getting his pleasure elsewhere”…

What message do you hope fans take away from your music and from “Lovebomb Letters?”

Don’t be fooled by thinking somebody who love-bombs you, actually loves you. If they start to gaslight, manipulate, lie, cheat and have no accountability over their wrongdoings towards you, they are a narcissist and they only love bombed you to try and win you over, so you could become their new supply.

What’s one of your proudest moments of your music career so far?

Proudest moments of my music career… I could say performing at the United Nations’ show for the President of Kazakhstan or playing to the England football players’ private lounge, but honestly… I feel like I’m yet to have my proudest moment, I feel there are bigger things to come now!

What would you say are the greatest lessons you’ve learned so far?

I’ve learned far too many lessons the hard way… The most important one was trusting my intuition, ALWAYS.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects, or do you have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?

I have an EP coming about in November, “Close to Closure.” It’s about my journey and perception of this entire relationship – the good, the bad and the ugly.
