With “Lost in the Jungle” out now, we took some time to hear from MILYAM. Read below to learn more about MILYAM, the story behind “Lost in the Jungle,” and what’s to come.

Hi MILYAM! Let’s start with how did you choose your artist name?

It’s actually a beautiful story that proves some of the best things in life happen when you follow your intuition. I was thinking of a name that felt unique, cinematic, and minimalist—something that captured the atmospheric essence of my sound.

My mother, who is the heartbeat and ideologist behind our joint brand, MILYAM EMPIRE, and I had been exploring various concepts, but inspiration doesn’t follow a schedule. It was 4:00 AM, I had just finished my first track, and I was so consumed by the need to share my music with the world that I couldn’t wait until sunrise to hit “submit.”

In that late-night moment of pure excitement, the name MILYAM suddenly resonated with my soul in a way nothing else ever had. It felt right, like a destined alignment. I loved it so much that I eventually added it to my passport. What started as a spark of midnight inspiration evolved into my true identity.

At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music? How did you get started?

At thirteen, I was already writing poetry and learning guitar, but the dream of becoming a global star felt like a distant galaxy—beautiful, yet almost impossible to reach. That vision lived in my heart for years, quietly waiting for its moment to arrive.

In 2023, I went through a profound personal transformation that changed everything. The emotions were so powerful that I couldn’t keep them contained; I realized that creation was my only path. I began writing songs to translate that intensity into a cinematic sound. My goal is to create an immersive atmosphere for those who feel they’ve reached their limit, reminding them that the brightest dawn always follows the darkest night.

This concept is the soul of everything that I create. This idea serves as the North Star for my creative journey.

How would you describe your sound?

Cinematography is the core of my sound. I want my music to paint three-dimensional pictures in the listener’s mind, like scenes from an unmade film—one that resonates with the experiences people hide deep within their souls. My goal is total emotional immersion; I want the listener to feel every detail of a meaningful experience and live through those moments with me. I want to show that even when it feels like the end – the brightest dawn is always waiting just beyond the horizon.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

When creating music, my focus has always been on my inner world rather than external influences. I create what I feel, prioritizing the atmosphere my music conveys over predefined formulas. If I were to speak about the artists who truly inspire me: I am inspired by Eminem. Whenever I follow his story, I am moved by the immense journey he took toward his dream—entering the global music scene against all odds. Despite his worldwide fame, he remained a kind, good-hearted person. This is something I deeply respect, and his path inspires me to never give up and to keep following my own dream of becoming a global star.

What’s one of the proudest moments of your music career so far?

One of the proudest moments for me was seeing my single, “Intimacy,” gain significant international momentum. It’s currently in rotation on Amazing Radio UK and USA, and receiving the message that my music is ‘shaping the sound’ of such a platform was incredibly moving. I am also honored that “Intimacy” was moved into the A-List ON-AIR rotation on Breaking Sound Radio—their highest playlist rotation—and was named Underground Song Of The Week on the program “A Collective Convo w/ Da Component$” on KBBF 89.1 FM in California.

I am deeply grateful that my sound resonates across the globe and that respected independent music publications have embraced my creative vision. This support was beautifully highlighted by being featured in the May issue of TJPL News (Issue 41). Knowing that my work is being showcased in print and shared in stores across both the UK and the US is a surreal feeling that inspires me to keep following my dream of becoming a global star.

What would you say are the greatest lessons that you’ve learned so far?

The greatest lesson I’ve learned is that the path to your dreams is never a straight line. Sometimes the vision in your head feels like a puzzle with missing pieces—a beautiful illusion you’re trying to make real. You chase that goal like a distant lighthouse in the fog.

I’ve realized that while you’re navigating that uncertainty, moments of real success eventually happen to prove you’re on the right track. The key is to never give up and to always follow your heart. This journey has taught me that persistence and staying true to your inner vision are what truly turn a dream into a reality.

Now onto your release, “Lost in the Jungle.” What inspired this song?

There was a moment in my life when everything changed in a way I wasn’t prepared for. “Lost in the Jungle” is a reflection of that time—it’s a song about loss, facing your deepest fears, and ultimately finding inner strength. To me, this track represents the paradox of recognizing your power through your vulnerability; that is where the true path to healing begins.

I wanted this song to be a sanctuary for those who feel lonely or misunderstood. My hope is that by listening to it, they can find peace in their own hearts. I like to think that this song takes the listener by the hand and gently guides them through the shadows toward the light.

What was the inspiration behind the cover artwork for “Lost in the Jungle?”

The artwork for “Lost in the Jungle” is a personal photograph taken on my phone at the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean. That day was deeply significant in my life, and I wanted the cover to capture a feeling akin to a frame from an old movie—a snapshot of a very important memory.

This image holds profound meaning for me; it represents a monumental step on my journey, much like the song itself. By using a real, raw moment rather than something staged, I wanted to convey the authenticity and weight of the emotions behind this release.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects, or do you have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?

Our long-term goal is to build MILYAM EMPIRE into a global symbol of artistic freedom and timeless quality. We want our music to reach every corner of the world, offering a sanctuary for those who seek depth and honesty. In the coming year, our listeners can expect a new album where we continue to explore the boundaries of our sound. We are also focusing on our expansion into the U.S. market, specifically California, and preparing for live performances that will bring the cinematic world of MILYAM to the stage.
