San Diego’s The Band Cope make their 2026 debut with the single, “Pretty Boy.” “Pretty Boy” is the budding music group’s first release since their six-track EP, Dress Up. “Pretty Boy” is an Alternative, Indie Rock record that is full of witty, tongue-in-cheek lyrics and emotive vocals.

“Pretty Boy” dives into the psyche behind and complexities of toxic relationships. The quirkiness of the song and its eclectic sound make the song less somber and allow the song’s message to be ingested effectively and with ease. “Written from the perspective of a lesbian reflecting on the cultural pattern of women returning to toxic relationships, the song balances specificity with relatability, offering both emotional candor and subtle wit,” The Band Cope state.

“Pretty Boy” has an old school meets new school sound. The catchy cadence creates a unique, captivating soundscape. The song’s switch-ups, breakdowns, and everything in-between make the jam a fun listen that will make listeners smile, sway, and feel all the feels. “Pretty Boy” may be The Band Cope’s first release of the year, but it will not be their last. Their sophomore album is slated for release later this year. While anticipation grows for The Band Cope’s forthcoming LP, be a good boy (or girl) and put “Pretty Boy” on repeat.
