Hi Makayla Me’chelle Larson! Tell us about who you are and where you are from.
I was raised in Phoenix, Arizona, but I’m currently based between Los Angeles and New York City. I’m a model, actress, and content creator with a passion for fashion, creativity, and traveling. I’ve always been drawn to opportunities that allow me to express myself, experience different environments, and challenge myself creatively. My career has taken me to different cities and countries, and I think those experiences have shaped both the person I am and the direction I want to take professionally.
How did you get your start, and how long have you been modeling?
I began exploring modeling in 2023, and by 2024, I had transitioned into modeling professionally. What initially started as an interest quickly developed into something I wanted to pursue full-time. I started taking opportunities, building my portfolio, networking with creatives, and putting myself in environments where I could grow. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work internationally and participate in some incredible fashion productions.
What was your first modeling gig?
My first experiences were in Arizona, where I began learning the industry and developing my portfolio. Those opportunities gave me the foundation to pursue modeling professionally and eventually branch out into larger markets. I think it’s important to acknowledge where you start, even when your ambitions take you somewhere much bigger.
When did you first get published?
My first publication was New York Weekly. That was a really exciting milestone because it was one of the first moments I saw my work and career being recognized on a larger platform. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to be featured in other publications, including Glamour. It’s been rewarding to see those opportunities develop over time.
When did you walk your first runway, and what are some of the most memorable catwalks?
My first runway experience was in Arizona. While I appreciate those early opportunities because they helped me develop my confidence and runway skills, some of my most memorable experiences have been walking internationally.
I’ve had the opportunity to walk in New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Las Vegas Swim Week, and Thailand. Each environment has its own energy and expectations. Being able to experience different fashion markets and work with designers from different backgrounds has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
Aside from modeling, you are also an actress. How long have you been acting?
I actually began exploring acting in 2023, around the same time I started modeling. I initially pursued both creative directions, but as I gained experience, I discovered that modeling was something I naturally gravitated toward and wanted to develop professionally.
That said, acting is still something I have a genuine interest in. I would love to dedicate more time to developing that side of my career, particularly moving into 2027.
You had a role in What a Child Sees. How was the audition process?
My experience with What a Child Sees was great. It was my first film project working alongside a full production team, so it was a really exciting introduction to the film industry. I played a smaller role, but I had the opportunity to meet some amazing people and learn a lot from the experience.
It was also my first in-person audition, which made the entire experience especially memorable. I think there’s something valuable about being willing to put yourself in unfamiliar situations and learning as you go. Even though it was a smaller role, it was an important first step for me, and it made me even more interested in exploring acting in the future.
What other productions have you been in, and any other acting credits on the horizon that you can discuss?
I’ve had experience working on college commercials, anti-vaping campaigns, restaurant advertisements, and other commercial productions. Those experiences gave me an introduction to working on camera in a different capacity than modeling.
I’m interested in expanding my acting portfolio and taking on more opportunities in film and television. I have plans to put more focus into acting in 2027, so I’m excited to see where that direction takes me.
Any other endeavors or upcoming projects that we should currently be on the lookout for from you?
I’m continuously working on expanding my presence in fashion and entertainment. I’m also exploring opportunities to grow my personal platform through content creation, travel, and potentially YouTube and blogging.
There are projects and opportunities in development that I’m very excited about, but I tend to keep things private until the right time to announce them. I believe in allowing the work to speak for itself, so you’ll have to stay tuned.
