Singer-songwriter and composer Azure Beryl is back with her first release of the year. The budding songstress releases her debut EP, Jones. The six-track EP features the lead single, “Dandelion Honey,” and five never-before-heard songs. Jones is a piano-driven project that showcases Azure Beryl’s serene, impassioned vocals, songwriting prowess, and composing chops.

Jones kicks off with the fan-favorite, “Dandelion Honey.” The song has a cinematic soundscape. The record lives between melancholia and fond nostalgia. The stripped back nature of the song allows Azure Beryl’s raw, polished vocals to shine. The EP then turns to “Love Is,” which ponders the age-old question: What is love? The BPM is slowed, furthering the song’s introspective/extrospective lyrics. Azure Beryl’s soulful timbre accentuates the emotiveness.

Track three, “Illuminate,” has palpable lyrics compounded with immaculate harmonies, which make the song mellifluous and captivating. “Some Days” follows and puts Azure Beryl’s sultry vocals on full display. The song is laced with clever, resonating symbolism.

The penultimate song, “Stardust,” has a whimsical and dreamy Classical sound. The record is a pensive anthem. Azure Beryl’s buttery voice elevates the song’s contemplative ambience. The song is ideal for a soundtrack and for live consumption.

Jones closes with “I Wish You’d Stay.” The song introduces additional instrumentation. Azure Beryl processes observation, joy, reflection, and the cognizance of inevitable grief. The reminiscing record has a storytelling tone. “I Wish You’d Stay” is the perfect coda.

Although Azure Beryl made her debut last year, her sound already sounds seasoned. Jones is an exquisite body of work that gives listeners a taste of the immense artistic talent that Azure Beryl possesses. Jones has listeners jonesing for more.
