Maryland-based Alternative Metal band Red Skies Dawning kicked off October with their debut single, “Shipwrecked.” The budding band followed their maiden release with two successive songs, “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” and “Paralyzed.” All three singles appear on Red Skies Dawning’s debut EP, From Ashes. The six-track inaugural EP is chock full of tracks that do the Alternative Metal and Rock genres justice.
From Ashes tackles a variety of topics, from struggles to triumph. “From Ashes is more than an EP — it’s everything torn down and rebuilt, piece by piece.” Red Skies Dawning continue, “Every track is a moment of truth, born from chaos, pain, and the will to rise again.”
From Ashes starts off with a never-before-heard song, “Where You Been?” The track sets the tone of the EP through its hard-hitting sound. Track two, “Obvious,” crescendos nicely. The raw, booming vocals of Chris Aleshire are on full display. The killer breakdown closes out the song perfectly. The lead single, “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” follows “Obvious.” The track pays homage to Simple Minds’ classic song. The song is a gritty, up-tempo jam. “Dangerous” is up next. “Dangerous” has a thunderous, melodically aggressive sound. Chris Aleshire’s impassioned vocals blend well with the song’s instrumentation. The penultimate song, “Shipwrecked,” is a fan favorite. It is a bouncy, cinematic anthem that has emotive vocals and and introspective/extrospective lyrics. The closer, “Paralyzed,” has a softer tone through its verses, but keeps the band’s distinctive hard-hitting sound within its chorus. The song is a heartfelt, resonating track that serves as a great finale.
From Ashes is a masterful body of work by Red Skies Dawning (Chris Aleshire (vocals), Michael Laulis (guitar), Michael Trujillo (bass), and Wyatt Carpenter (drums)). The EP was produced and mixed/mastered by seasoned veterans Chris Dawson and Jimmie Beattie. Immerse yourself in the epic soundscape that is From Ashes.
