Kaia Fincher is an artist, producer, and composer from Brighton, UK. Her work blends emotional honesty with atmospheric, modern pop, moving between delicate electronic textures, cinematic arrangements, and intimate vocals. In this space, vulnerability feels bold, and softness becomes its own kind of dynamic power.

She first reached a wide audience with her debut single, “Something New,” followed by a hypnotic club remix of the track, which expanded her sonic world and showcased her fluid, shape-shifting approach to music. Kaia Fincher creates a space where vulnerability meets euphoria – where introspection turns into movement, and emotion becomes atmosphere.

In autumn of 2025, Kaia Fincher debuted her first Live Session in Brighton, giving an intimate acoustic set for Slack City Radio that included her debut single and two unreleased tracks scheduled for release throughout winter and spring 2026 – offering a peek into her next creative chapter.

Kaia Fincher is part of a rising new wave redefining what pop can be – cinematic, emotionally intelligent, and unafraid to tell the stories that matter. She writes for those who live between categories, who carry quiet courage and experience love, desire and identity in ways the world is still learning to celebrate. Her music unfolds in the space between feeling, introspection, and radical self-acceptance, proving that strength and sensuality are not bound to any gender.

Kaia Fincher isn’t a name. It is a decision.

With “take my love” out now, we took some time to hear from Kaia Fincher. Read below to learn more about Kaia Fincher, the story behind “take my love,” and what’s to come.

Hi Kaia Fincher! Let’s start with how did you get your artist name?

Kaia Fincher isn’t just a name – it’s a decision. It represents stepping fully into who I am as an artist and as a person. Kaia embodies freedom, exploration, and emotional honesty, while Fincher carries a sense of strength and edge. Together, they became a space where I could create without limits or expectations, without shrinking myself.

What city are you from, and where are you based now?

I’ve never really belonged to just one place. I grew up travelling, living in different environments, spending time in the US and across Europe, and constantly absorbing new cultures and energy. Those experiences have deeply shaped my sound and perspective. At the moment, I’m based in the UK, but movement and exploration remain a big part of who I am.

At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music? How did you get started?

Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was a child, I used to grab my mum’s hairspray as a microphone and give little “concerts” at home, singing made-up melodies or songs I had heard somewhere. It was my favourite thing to do. My parents always played music around the house, and I grew up surrounded by vinyl records, so sound was constantly in the air. I was fascinated by musical instruments from an early age. Even when we couldn’t afford one, I found ways to imagine it – I once drew my first “synthesiser” on paper, taped the sheets together, drew the keys and notes, and practised on it, pretending I could hear how it would sound. Over time, that playful curiosity turned into songwriting, producing, and a deep commitment to music as my life’s path. It’s something that has always lived inside me.

How has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound?

Growing up surrounded by diverse musical influences had a profound impact on me. I was drawn to emotional songwriting, jazz harmonies, and, later, modern electronic production. Moving between different places and cultures also shaped my perspective, teaching me to blend worlds rather than stay in one lane. That’s why my sound moves between intimacy and energy, softness and strength – it reflects the mix of experiences that formed me.

How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?

I’d describe my sound as emotional, cinematic pop with a strong electronic core. It’s built around synth-driven textures, hypnotic basslines, and intimate vocals, blending softness with power. My music lives in the space where vulnerability meets euphoria – where introspective lyrics about love, desire, and self-connection become something you can both feel deeply and move to. It’s modern, atmospheric, and honest, with a sensual edge.

Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?

Movement is a big part of my life. I’m really into sports and staying active – when my body feels strong and balanced, my mind does too. I tend to be a very anxious person with a lot of thoughts constantly running through my head, and exercise helps me ground myself and find stability. Swimming is one of my favourite things to do.

I also absolutely love cinema. I’m a huge fan of great films and movie theatres – watching powerful, well-crafted movies deeply inspires me. One of my dreams is to explore acting at some point in my life.

Another ritual I truly cherish is walking my dog. It’s my favourite daily moment – breathing fresh air, slowing down, and often listening to walking meditations. It helps me reconnect with myself.

And, I love driving. Feeling the road, the movement, the journey – travelling in general really warms me and fuels my creativity.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

Growing up, I was deeply influenced by artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Charlie Parker, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, and Radiohead. Their emotional depth, innovation, and storytelling shaped how I think about music.

As I developed my own sound, I was also inspired by more modern electronic and alternative artists, including James Blake, FKA twigs, MUNA, Moderat, Caroline Polachek, and Massive Attack. I love music that blends emotion with atmosphere and pop sensibility with experimental textures.

What’s one of the proudest moments of your music career so far?

One of the moments I’m most proud of has been rediscovering myself as an artist. We shot my very first photoshoot for my debut single, “Something New,” at the Peckham Liberal Club, also known as the historic Peckham Working Men’s Club in London – a space that was originally created exclusively for men.

Walking into a place with such a rich, traditional, masculine history and transforming it into the setting for a bold, queer photoshoot felt incredibly powerful. Doing it with such an amazing creative team, including the brilliant photographer Billie Stringer, made it even more unforgettable. It truly marked the beginning of a new visual and emotional chapter for me.

We released “Something New” in late September, along with “Slow Burn” and a remix of “Something New,” which received amazing feedback and strong support from techno radio and DJs. Seeing how much has grown in such a short time has been both surreal and deeply affirming.

What would you say are the greatest lessons that you’ve learned so far?

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is how important it is to be truly yourself. To love who you are, trust your intuition, and believe in your own vision.

Fear can be very paralysing – it makes you doubt, compare yourself to others, and sometimes even erase parts of your identity to fit in. But, I’ve realised that growth comes when you stop shrinking yourself. When you stop suppressing who you are and allow yourself to be bold, alive, and honest.

The more you embrace your uniqueness, the brighter you shine. The more you trust yourself and your path, the more powerful and authentic your life and art become.

Now onto your release, “take my love.” What inspired this song? What is “take my love” about?

“take my love” was inspired by that moment when you realise that you’re about to cross a line – and you choose to do it anyway. It’s about desire, emotional honesty, and the courage to stop holding yourself back.

I wanted to capture the feeling of surrendering to something you truly want, without pretending you don’t understand the consequences. It’s not about recklessness – it’s about choosing intensity, closeness, and connection fully.

The song lives in that space where attraction becomes magnetic, where boundaries blur, and where love isn’t passive or polite, but active and intentional. It’s about stepping into what you feel instead of negotiating with yourself or playing it safe.

What was the inspiration behind the cover artwork for “take my love?”

For the visual around “take my love,” I didn’t overthink it at first. It started very naturally – while we were setting up the camera and adjusting the lighting, we captured a moment that felt right from the start. I wanted to look powerful, slightly masculine, confident, and magnetic – someone who owns their desire and energy. At the same time, the warmth in the colours was important to me. I didn’t want it to feel cold or distant. The warm tones reflect intimacy, closeness, and emotion, all at the heart of the song.

The image ended up representing both strength and vulnerability, which is exactly what “take my love” is about.

What was the creative process like when making “take my love?”

The creative process behind “take my love” was deeply inspired by themes of mystique, transformation, and an intense, almost forbidden connection. I’ve always been drawn to stories where love feels powerful, consuming, and slightly dangerous – where giving yourself to someone means crossing a point of no return.

In queer culture, especially, there’s a strong connection to imagery of transformation, devotion, and chosen desire. The idea of two beings drawn to each other, with one willingly surrendering to the other and being changed by that love, felt deeply emotional and symbolic to me.

I wrote the song from the perspective of the one who already lives in that world of intensity – the one who knows the depth of feeling, the hunger, and the consequences, yet chooses love anyway. I wanted the track to feel magnetic and seductive, pulling the listener in the same way that kind of love does.

How long did it take to complete “take my love?”

“take my love” came together quite quickly. It began with a small fragment of music I had written earlier and almost forgotten. One day I suddenly remembered it, started singing a melody over it, and everything flowed naturally from there.

The melody, vocals, and core of the song came together quickly, and soon after I found the emotional story behind it. Within about two weeks, the song had fully taken shape. The arrangement and production took a bit longer because I wanted to build the atmosphere and intensity around the track’s feeling.

In general, I tend to write songs very intuitively and quickly – my personal record is ten minutes. That’s how I wrote “Slowburn.”

What is your favorite lyric in “take my love” and why?

One of my favourite lines is “I’m gonna get in trouble.” It captures the song’s emotional core so simply. It’s about recognising desire, acknowledging the risk, and choosing it anyway. For me, that line represents agency, honesty, and the courage to step fully into what you feel rather than holding yourself back. It’s playful, bold, and emotional all at once – just like the song’s story.

What do you hope fans take away from “take my love” and your music in general?

I hope people feel empowered to trust themselves and their emotions. With “take my love,” I want listeners to feel the courage to choose what they truly want, to step into love, desire, and connection without fear or apology. More broadly, through my music, I hope to encourage people to be fully themselves – to stop shrinking, comparing, and hiding parts of who they are. Fear can make us quiet and small, but authenticity makes us powerful and alive.

The more you embrace your uniqueness and follow your intuition, the brighter you shine. If my music helps even one person feel more confident, seen, and free in who they are, I’ve done something meaningful.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects, or do you have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?

There’s a lot coming up. About a month after the release of “take my love,” I’ll be dropping a remix of the track, taking it into a more club-driven, electronic space. I’m already working on my next single, planned for release soon after.

Right now, I’m really excited to start performing more. I’m hoping to play my first small, intimate acoustic shows, as connecting directly with people is something I really miss and value. This project is still very new, but live performance will be a big focus going forward.

I’ve applied to several festivals and showcase events and am keeping my fingers crossed for some great opportunities. I’m also constantly reaching out to radio stations, including BBC platforms, as it would be a dream to perform on one of their sessions.

Overall, the next chapter is about releasing more music, growing the live side of the project, and continuing to build this world step by step.

Before you go, let’s ask you an off-topic question. Are you more of a sunrise or sunset person?

I’m definitely more of a sunrise person. I love waking up early and taking time for my morning rituals. My skincare routine alone takes about forty minutes – it’s my little moment of self-care and calm. I enjoy stretching, having my morning coffee, and feeling that quiet time when the world is still asleep, and everything feels slower. I often meditate in the mornings too – it helps me ground myself and set the tone for the day.

Seeing the sunrise gives me an incredible burst of energy and inspiration. There’s something magical about the beginning of a new day, and I really love that feeling of a fresh start.

Thank you for the great interview; wish you much continued success!
