Gero is an Italian music producer, guitarist, and composer with a versatile musical journey. He began his career as a guitarist and gradually transitioned into music production, mastering multiple genres, including EDM and electronic pop. Gero collaborates with singers from around the world, creating dynamic and innovative tracks. In the past, he worked as a ghost producer for various Italian indie pop artists and composed music for podcasts, showcasing his creative versatility and attention to detail.

With “Light Up The Night” out now, we took some time to hear from Gero. Read below to learn more about Gero, the story behind “Light Up The Night,” and what’s to come.

Hi Gero! Let’s start with how did you get your artist name?

Hi everybody! The answer is very simple. It’s the short version of my last name, Gerosa. Everyone has called me Gero since high school, so it was very easy for me to choose my artist name.

What city are you from, and where are you based now?

I’m Italian, and I’m from, and still living in, the northern part of Italy, very close to Milan.

At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music? How did you get started?

I’ve been surrounded by music since I was a kid. My brother, who is 11 years older than me, was an amateur DJ. When I was 16, I started playing electric guitar and joined some underground bands, mainly playing rock and post-grunge. In 2018, I decided to dedicate myself to music production, mixing, and mastering. I worked as a ghost producer for other Italian independent artists, but over the last year and a half, I decided to start my own journey as a music producer under the name Gero.

How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?

I would describe my sound as mainly electronic pop and EDM, but of course there are many other influences in every song that I’ve released and will release in the future.

Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?

I love to cook, spend time with my family and friends, and I’m an AC Milan supporter. Doing the things that I love also helps me stay creative and passionate.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

My musical influences started in the ’90s with Italodance and then moved into rock music, which is quite different from what I do now, bands like Metallica, Foo Fighters, and Biffy Clyro. In terms of the style that I produce today, I really love Avicii, Kygo, Burial, and Tokyo Project.

What’s one of the proudest moments of your music career so far?

As a music producer, my proudest moment was releasing my first single in 2025. It wasn’t a huge achievement, but I was very proud of it. As a musician, releasing two independent albums allowed me to play abroad and at some big festivals, including opening for one of my favorite bands, Biffy Clyro, in 2016.

What would you say are the greatest lessons that you’ve learned so far?

The greatest lesson that I’ve learned is: don’t think about what people might like, think about what you like, and do that.

Now onto your release, “Light Up The Night.” What inspired this song?

During the writing session, I said to myself, “Gero, close your eyes. Where would you like to be? Doing what?” I imagined being on a beach at sunset, with a beer in my hand, sitting in front of a fireplace, just chilling and enjoying life. Then, I tried my best to turn that feeling into a song.

What was the inspiration behind the cover artwork for “Light Up The Night?”

At that time, I was imagining where I wanted to be and what I wanted to do, and my brain created a picture of it, a fireplace on the beach in front of the sea. I simply turned that image into the artwork for the song

How did the collaboration with Tina Tara come about?

I met Tina virtually while browsing online. I checked out her Instagram profile and immediately fell in love with her voice. I contacted her, she gave me a high five, and we started collaborating on this track remotely.

What was the creative process like when making “Light Up The Night?”

I made a draft of the song before collaborating with Tina, and that version was sung by me—which was a complete disaster because I’m not a singer. Tina is amazing. She took the song and recorded all her takes in no time, which was absolutely insane. She did a marvelous job. After that, I mixed the track until we were both happy with the final result.

How long did it take to complete “Light Up The Night?”

I started working on this track almost a year ago. After a few months, I began the collaboration with Tina, so I would say it took about two or three months in total to complete once the process was fully underway.

What do you hope fans take away from “Light Up The Night” and your music in general?

Life is really short and sometimes very hard, and many people know what darkness feels like. I’m sure each of us experiences our own kind of darkness. This song is meant to give you a little over two minutes of happiness and joy. It’s not much, but it’s something. I really hope you enjoy it.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects, or do you have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?

Yes, I have more coming in 2026. Let’s say that every two or three months, I’ll be releasing new songs featuring different singers from around the world. The next two tracks will have more of an R&B vibe. I don’t have exact dates yet, so the best way to stay updated is to follow me on my socials.
