Following a pair of lead singles, which were Fiona Ross‘ first releases since 2023, the award-winning vocalist, pianist, composer, and producer unveils her eighth album, Moments in My Notebook. The 21-track LP is a Jazz fan’s oasis. Fiona Ross’ beautiful vocals shine bright on top of the soothing instrumentals, creating cinematic, dreamy soundscapes.
Moments in My Notebook is a sonic journey that showcases Jazz in all of its glory. Fiona Ross does a terrific job at displaying Jazz and its subgenres. She has plenty of downtempo Jazz tracks, but also upbeat Swing records, such as “I Found a Song in My Notebook.” The album’s storytelling stands out, and Fiona Ross allows listeners to follow along her personal journey. “The album is a chronicle of love, loss, discovery, and relentless creativity.” Fiona Ross continues, “I still write everything in notebooks, and this album is 21 moments from those pages—21 moments in my life.”
Fiona Ross composed a dream team for the album: Gibbi Bettini (guitar), Derek Daley (bass), Marley Drummond (drums), Loren Hignell (saxophones, clarinet, and flutes), Simon Todd (percussion), and Dave Boa (trumpets) – with guest appearances by Laura Impallomeni (trombone), Charlotte Keeffe (trumpet), Hannah Horton (saxophone), Diana Torti (vocals), and Migdalia van Der Hoven (drums). Moments in My Notebook is an immaculate body of work by the British sensation, and it marked a milestone as it was Fiona Ross’ 100th song release, which she cleverly notes on the final track of the project, “100 Songs.” The album can be heard in person as Fiona Ross is currently on tour. So, go watch or listen to Fiona Ross’ Notebook being brought to life.
