Formed in the most radioactive place in Glasgow, Decay Chain has been tearing through the Scottish punk scene like fingers through cheap toilet paper since forming in late 2025.
With a string of maxed out shows around the city. Helmed by the enigmatic Alex Glackin, Decay Chain is notorious for their live performances that stay with their audience long after exposure!

With “Talon Dance” out now, we took some time to hear from Decay Chain. Read below to learn more about Decay Chain, the story behind “Talon Dance,” and what’s to come.
Hi! Let’s start with how did the band’s name come about?
We had debated for a while on what we would call ourselves. But the name, “decay chain,” itself was suggested by one of the First Ladies of the band. Decay chain is actually a scientific term about rouge elements. And seeing as we were a bunch of random elements ourselves, the name was fitting. A lot of us are big fans of the fallout franchise as well so we where already obsessed with radiation from day one.
What city are you all from, and where are you all based now?
We come from all over the place. Decay chain’s reach can be described as global if you only could point to America and Scotland on a map. We are from Perth, Glasgow, Logan’s house and Seattle collectively. We all live in Glasgow now except Logan who lives at Logan’s house.
How and when did the band form?
We formed out of the primordial ooze of irrelevancy, but if you want to be more specific, we formed from our local college around September of last year. The world hasn’t recovered since.
How would you all describe your band’s sound?
Sonic vandalism.
Who are some of your group’s main musical influences?
A difficult question in all honesty. When we sit down to rehearse we never say, “let’s give it more Black Flag,” or something like that. But if you had to strip us down to our core, then The Cramps, The Jesus Lizard, Joy division and The Misfits are what we would call our biggest influences. That being said each member has their own personal preference. So, it’s hard to boil us down to just that.
If you all could pick anyone to collaborate with, who would it be?
It would be William Shakespeare.
What’s one of the proudest moments of your band’s music career so far?
So far as a band, our proudest moment was definitely throwing a sex doll with Nigel Farage’s face on it into the crowd and watching the audience tear into it like a pizza.
What would you all say are the greatest lessons that you’ve all learned so far?
A true hero’s strength comes from the power of friendship, the chain is built on love and trust. If one link in the chain breaks, there is no decay chain only decay rubble…in other words if we don’t all truly work together, we all fall down.
Also rehearsal rooms oughta lower their prices.
Never insult a public grant agency at your first gig, mistakes were learned…
Do you all have any regrets?
It’s definitely still insulting a public grant agency at our first gig. We really could have used that milk money.
Now onto “Talon Dance.” What inspired this song?
We hate fascists. We hate seeing them in our or anyone’s lives. So, the song was written about the anger and the frustration of seeing these ghouls bleed more and more into the mainstream and current climate.
What is “Talon Dance” about?
The solution to our current pest infestation is to hit them where it’s hurts. But, we need to act fast.
The name, “Talon Dance,” was from the idea that these freaks circle normal peoples lives like vultures waiting to eat their next meal. They wait, they strike and when they are done, there’s nothing left.
What was the inspiration behind the cover artwork for “Talon Dance?”
It depicts a talon dance.
What was the creative process like when making “Talon Dance?”
The riff was made in a matter of hours, but learning to play it as a band was a challenge. It was our first original song under the decay chain name and we were still learning to play together at the time. After countless cigarettes and a “chill pill” or 2, “Talon Dance” would be born. The lyrics would come later down the line.
How long did it take to complete “Talon Dance?”
The writing was fast and the practice was a bit hectic. But, the recording and post production was turbulent to say the least. We recorded the both, “Talon Dance” and its sister track, “Disappearing Act, in 2 days. But, we waited for what felt like dog years.
It was originally scheduled for March, but to complications after complications kept arising. Needless to say, we are glad the project is completed.
What do you all hope fans take away from “Talon Dance” and your band’s music in general?
We hope that people can see our vision with talon dance, and all our music. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we take our music and its message very much so.
What’s next? Are you all working on any upcoming projects, or do you all have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?
We hope to escape the Containment Glasgow. All though we love the city. We hope to radiate the rest of the country soon. We are already in the planning stages for our next project.
There are plenty of songs of ours still yet to be put to streaming. So, stay tuned. The next project will be bigger, better and even more irrelevant and dysfunctional.
