Hi Allcapsallan! Let’s start with how did you get your artist name?
When I first started releasing music, I was going by ALLAN, but people weren’t catching on when it came down to presenting me by name. So, they would put me on fliers and online as Allan. My brother gave me the name, Allcapsallan, originally as a Twitter handle, and I’ve been going by that ever since.
What city are you from, and where are you based now?
I’m from Long Island, NY and I’m still here.
At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music? How did you get started?
I’ve been rapping since high school, but really just on some lunch table freestyle type vibes. About a year or two after I graduated, I decided to take it seriously and started writing songs. Which led to me releasing my first mixtape called “May 19th.”
How has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound?
Overall, I got a real good family. We’ve had hard times and ups and downs, but the love is always there. It really just gives me an anchor to stay solid on and serves as the reason for what I do. I dropped an album called Family Ties about two years ago and it touches on that concept.
How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?
Honestly, I wouldn’t. My sound is so dependent on what I’m going through at the time that it’s not always going to be the same. As of right now the bag I’m in is a little emotional. I’ve been making a lot of records with a more airy spacey sound, but the bars are still there for sure.
Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?
Outside of music, I just try to stay active really. I practice martial arts and just stay in the gym mostly. I’m an avid gamer as well. The creativity comes from within mostly. As I grow as a person, so does the music.
Who are some of your main musical influences?
The list is long and what I listen to is all over the place currently. I go through different stints at different times, but the foundation is what I grew up on Dipset, Wayne, Ye, Lupe.
What’s one of the proudest moments of your music career so far?
I haven’t really had it yet, but I can say that, right now, I’m more proud of the music that I’m making than I ever have been.
What would you say are the greatest lessons that you’ve learned so far?
Believe in yourself for real and have a plan. Even if the plan takes a turn, at least have a foundation of an idea of what it is you are trying to accomplish with your product.
Now onto your release, “TRAUMA BOND.” What inspired this song? What is “TRAUMA BOND” about?
Honestly, I had gone through some relationship issues and a bunch of the homies were going through some similar situations as well, so I was like man I gotta put this on wax. “TRAUMA BOND” is really more so about my personal experience of course, but I know it resonates with my dawgs as well. Hopefully it does for anyone who’s listening who’s been through it too.
What was the creative process like when making “TRAUMA BOND?”
It was really natural. The song pretty much just came to me, so I started going through my emails to find a beat, and I found one that a producer named Rolly sent to me and it was up from there.
How long did it take to complete “TRAUMA BOND?”
Not long. I wrote the song in like a day or two just writing the lyrics as they came. I had the record written for a good minute before I took it to the studio. But when I got in there, I laid it down fairly quickly, my guy Jerm did his magic with the mix, and it was ready to go by the end of the session.
What is your favorite lyric in “TRAUMA BOND” and why?
“You cut me, I cut you, then we bleed together” – it just speaks to the fact that when things go left no one leaves without a scar.
What was the inspiration behind the cover artwork for “TRAUMA BOND?”
I actually made it myself. I wanted something simple, but I felt like it needed something, so I put the silhouettes of the people over the parental advisory stamp. I was like yeah that’s dope, ain’t nobody doing that.
What message or messages do you hope fans take away from “TRAUMA BOND” and your music in general?
Generally, I just hope my music helps people. Whether it be to help them process their own situations or just helps them to feel like they’re not alone in what they’re going through.
What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects, or do you have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?
For sure. I have a single coming out on 11/23/2025 called “ON MY WAY” and I’m dropping an album on Valentines Day (1/14/2026) called LOVE AND LOSS.
