With “Fall In Luv” out now, we took some time to hear from Zodic. Read below to learn more about Zodic, the story behind “Fall In Luv,” and what’s to come.

Hi Zodic! Let’s start with how did you get your artist name?

It’s pretty interesting really. For some odd reason, I came up with name Exotic Flow in 2020. No reason why, but I needed a name so that’s what I went with at the time. Then, a few months later, I collabed with this female artist in my area. In the track, I wanted her to say my name, but she couldn’t pronounce my correctly because of her accent. So to make it easier, I told her to say Zodic Flow instead and it was smoother for her. Then over time, I simply just introduced myself as Zodic for short and it stuck ever since.

What city are you from, and where are you based now?

I’m originally from Pompano Beach, Florida, but I reside in Seattle, WA now.

At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music? How did you get started?

I’ve been a singer ever since I was young, but I never started on music until college. To be honest, it didn’t seem like music was a realistic path for me, but I once I was around other people and they were making music around me, it pushed me to start writing and go from there.

How has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound?

Immensely. I’m incredibly hard on myself because my family could never understand me. My entire family is from Haiti while being the youngest, I was born in America. So, my perspective was very different from theirs. Didn’t get easier moving to WA. Most people in the town I lived in were never around black people like that, so I was even more alienated. I just felt boxed in, so whenever I was start to feel down, I would sing. It would be an escape for me.

How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?

Cinematic, action packed, story driven on a theme standpoint. If we’re talking other artists: Travis Scott, Drake, Don Tolliver, and Tory Lanez.

Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?

H*ll yes I do. I work out and play games. I watch a lot of TV/movies. I think how I stay creative is I continue to experiment/innovate my sound, so it never feels stagnant.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

Big Sean for sure. He was very influential for me in high school. Drake, Kanye West, and Chris Brown.

What is your dream music collaboration?

Big Sean/DaBaby.

What’s one of the proudest moments of your music career so far?

Competing in a music competition for a spot to perform in the summer festival in Seattle’s Fremont Fridays. Being the 1st artist and waiting d*mn near 7 hours to perform and earned a spot.

What would you say are the greatest lessons that you’ve learned so far?

Life is not a straight line. You’ll be up when it looks like your down and vice versa. If you don’t quit, nothing will stop you. You’ll never be satisfied in life until things look/feel the way that you want it to.

Now onto your release, “Fall In Luv.” What inspired this song? What is “Fall In Luv” about?

My very 1st song! Wrote this for my ex in 2017. Ended up recording it in 2019. She inspired a lot of my early work at that time.

What was the inspiration behind the cover artwork for “Fall In Luv?”

My friend, had a cover art in his computer and it just so happened to fit the song exactly.

What was the creative process like when making “Fall In Luv?”

It was honestly so quick. I wrote the song 2 years before recording, and I rehearsed it so many times beforehand. By the time it came record time, it was so smooth. Just a simple plug and play.

How long did it take to complete “Fall In Luv?”

          About 2 hours.

What is your favorite lyric in “Fall In Luv” and why?

“Don’t be ashamed if you fall in luv because everybody wanna fall in luv.” I love (PUN INTENDED) how I brought it home in the bridge to refer to everyone wanting love in their life.

What do you hope fans take away from “Fall In Luv” and your music in general?

For this song specifically, go after who you love. As for the rest of music, expect a journey unlike any other.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects, or do you have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?

I have another love song dropping February 23rd that’s another love song this month. Will be trying to drop more consecutively this year. As for shows, got a few lined up. Dates not confirmed yet.
