United Kingdom’s Zachary Mason follows up “Madness Gladness” with a new single, “The Funky Martians.” “The Funky Martians” serves as a lead single, appearing on the UK sensation’s forthcoming EP, 5…4…3…2…1… “The Funky Martians” is a unique, eclectic record with a Rock backbone that is playful, wavy, and one of a kind.

As the title suggests, “The Funky Martians” has funky, spacey instrumentation layered with synthy and psychedelic sounds. The song is meant to introduce the upcoming EP thematically and sonically. The track paints a picture of a humorous encounter between humans and Martians. “‘The Funky Martians’ tells a bizarre story of a human colony landing on Mars and being confronted with some hostile Martians; only to find, thanks to a lucky mistake, that these Martians can be easily appeased – with funky music,” Zachary Mason explains.

The Experimental sound is furthered by the genius vocal inflections that Zachary Mason does in the song. The vocals are that of the narrator, the Martians, and the colonists. Zachary Mason enlisted Little Big Town’s bassist, John Thomasson, and Rose Hill Drive’s drummer, Nate Barnes, for the incredible instrumentation. The single’s idiosyncratic, eccentric soundscape has listeners highly anticipating 5…4…3…2…1… While the EP is being finalized, play the out-of-this-world record, “The Funky Martians,” on repeat.
