With “Ride The Wave” out now, we took some time to hear from Max Chaos. Read below to learn more about Max Chaos, the story behind “Ride The Wave,” and what’s to come.
Hi Max Chaos! Let’s start with how did you get your artist name?
The name Max Chaos was brought to light by our producer Dan McConomy, after long discussions of searching for the perfect artist name for our project it glued together the concept of our music, and visuals as well, being able to catharsis emotions in music from an unknown identity and figure configure power into our music plan.
What city are you from and where are you based now?
Justin and I are based out of the Greater Toronto area.
At what point did you decide to pursue a music career? How did you get started?
About two years ago is when the passion really started to burn inside of me. Playing guitar on and off since a young kid, and picking back up, playing in a band about four years ago pushed me into a deep dive into a writing phase and really set things on track for me. Writing time to me is the only time I can turn the rest of the crazy world off and just be in my element.
How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?
I would describe it as experimental, Nu Heavy with a twist.
I believe it’s a unique, fresh sound with a mix of nostalgia that metal fans are dying to hear.
Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?
Outside of music, my hobbies are classic cars and unique antiques. A future home studio tour will show you exactly what I mean.
Who are some of your main musical influences?
My music interests vary a lot, coming from a classic rock background as a young kid, growing up on my parents favourite music learning all of the classic rock songs on guitar, to limp bizkit, all the way over to blues, and back to r&b and country. I appreciate all genres of music, if the meaning and power is behind it.
What’s one of the proudest moments of your music career so far?
When Dan McConomy and I had our first conversation, and I realized that d*mn, this really does have a shot! Despite what others may say, I had an industry goat telling me ‘this music is legit and the timing is perfect for band like this.’
We immediately started talking daily and planning our next moves. We have lots of great stuff coming your way soon!
What would you say are the greatest lessons that you’ve learned so far?
Patience, keep it real and follow the universes signals.
Now onto your release, ‘Ride The Wave.’ What inspired this song? What is ‘Ride The Wave’ about?
‘Ride The Wave’ is about living your life day to day, and not caring what anyone says about you, or what you do.
It’s about being a stress free, drama free person who wants to follow their own wavelengths on this universe and wants to block out anyone else’s opinions who may stop or slow them down on their life journey.
What was the creative process like when making ‘Ride The Wave?’ How long did it take to complete ‘Ride The Wave?’
‘Ride The Wave’ came very naturally and very quickly.
I was experimenting with my digitech whammy one day in my living room and the riff began, immediately I started piecing together an instrumental and went to the vocal booth to work on lyrics. After Justin rewrote the drums, and we had some further direction from Dan, we had a hit song together in a matter of days. Sometimes when I’m writing songs they come so naturally, and powerfully that it feels like I had wrote them before, possibly in a different dimension.
What is your favorite lyric in ‘Ride The Wave’ and why?
Live my life by day.
Because it’s how I follow my life, I’m not much of a long term planner – I follow my daily intuition on where to let life take me.
What message do you hope fans take away from your music and from ‘Ride The Wave?’
Life’s short, get out there, be yourself and don’t care.
Be responsible, but don’t let others weigh you down and complain about stupid stuff, ride your life’s wavelengths to your next journey. Let the universe do its thing for you. Manifesting is real.
What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects, or do you have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?
No planned shows until the album, ORDER OF MAYHEM, is finished and released. We are laser-focused on finishing up the album and working on the merchandise, designs, promotion, social media, and building our profile to become worldwide with the team our management is putting around us such as Metal Maria at AdrenalinePR, Munsey Ricci at Skateboard Mktg., and the rest of the team that keeps growing weekly, to execute the gameplan we put together.
Where can we follow you on social media?
