With “Omen” out now, we took some time to hear from Rage Unfold. Read below to learn more about Rage Unfold, the story behind “Omen,” and what’s to come.
Hi! Let’s start with how did the band’s name come about?
The founders of the band are Bozhidar Popov and Marie-Louise Anastas. At the moment, Rage Unfold is a virtual metal band. I came up with the name because I wanted to transform negative emotions into positive energy. Rage Unfold symbolizes the power of the band and its inner strength.
What city are you all from, and where are you all based now?
We are spanning 3 countries – Bulgaria, Germany and Australia.
How and when did the band form?
We were formed in 2022. Bozhidar Popov and Marie-Louise Anastas are the co-founders of the band.
How would you all describe your band’s sound?
We’re a heavy metal band with progressive sound that captures your attention instantly.
Who are some of your group’s main musical influences?
Metallica, Dio, Manowar, and Iron Maiden.
What’s one of the proudest moments of your band’s music career so far?
We’ve achieved some remarkable social success reaching almost 1.8 million views on YouTube. Also, being able to reach a big amount of audience, despite the fact that we’re currently a virtual band – that’s a great achievement!
What would you all say are the greatest lessons that you’ve all learned so far?
Never giving up on your musical ideas and believing in your inner instinct when it comes down to composing and producing music.
Now onto “Omen.” What inspired this song? What is “Omen” about?
“Omen” is a powerful progressive metal song. It’s about not giving up in life and being able to overcome obstacles with ease.
What was the inspiration behind the cover artwork for “Omen?”
The red wool and letters could represent being tied to the Omen, but also like puppet strings with the Omen controlling the guy. The idea of being tethered to something that is with you always. Rage Unfolding artwork plays with the image of an ancient scroll that is unrolling continuously and burning around the edges. The rage igniting the parchment scroll. Also, rage through history and history repeating itself. The red wool and red down the side was for a bold effect against the drawing.
What was the creative process like when making “Omen?”
It was a fun song to record and produce. The song was composed and produced in Bulgaria and vocals were recorded in Germany.
How long did it take to complete “Omen?”
About a month for the completion of the song and one more for finishing the music video.
How did the music video for “Omen” come about? What was the vision for the video?
As we are geographically restrained we had to use a green screen to shoot most of the video parts. It was quite hard to make something out of such a restrained foundation, but it panned out quite well for us.
What do you all hope fans take away from “Omen” and your band’s music in general?
The progressive energy, the power of the song and its essence. We hope that our latest release will attract more fans and followers of the band.
What’s next for you all? Are you all working on any upcoming projects, or do you all have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?
Our main goal is to transform the band into a physical one. It will take some time, but it will happen eventually.
New single coming soon – stay tuned!
