Bay Area music artist Tacer has been busy since his debut at the end of last year. The rising rapper has already released a pair of singles to kick off the year. The West Coast MC now closes out the month of love with his debut EP, Spitting The Tea: A Beautiful Horror EP. The six-track EP showcases Tacer’s distinctive and captivating blend of Bay Area Hyphy and UK Grime.
Spitting The Tea: A Beautiful Horror EP starts off with “Villain.” The track carries a Horrorcore sound reminiscent of Tech N9ne and allows Tacer to show off his Chopper Rap flow. The titular song is next. “Spitting The Tea” slows the pace down a bit, but still has a bouncy sound. It puts Tacer’s versatility on full display. Track three, “California Speed Limit,” brings the heat. The song is appropriately named because of the fast-spitting bars. “Walking (On My Own)” demonstrates another layer of Tacer’s artistry. The hook has a Melodic Rap, Pop Rap vibe while the verses remain hard-hitting. “Pain Into Will” naturally follows “Walking (On My Own)” with its melodic vocal chorus. The track is a vulnerable and motivational anthem that inspires listeners to keep on keeping on. The project closes with the bonus track, “MAYDAY.” The song is the epitome of Tacer’s genre splice of sounds from the Bay and UK.
Spitting The Tea: A Beautiful Horror EP is a sonic and thematic journey that allows Tacer’s lyrical prowess to shine. The budding artist put together an immaculate body of work that is raw, tuneful, and has much replay value. Tacer may be new to the game, but his sound sounds seasoned. Spitting The Tea: A Beautiful Horror EP is tea and masterful from start to finish.
