Emerging singer-songwriter Della Vonne introduces her sound through “Wish You Well” and “How It Ends,” two emotionally driven tracks that highlight her strength as a storyteller. “Wish You Well” captures the quiet aftermath of a breakup, exploring the tension between pain and acceptance with restraint and maturity. Built on reflective lyrics and cinematic atmosphere, the song offers a graceful take on choosing closure over bitterness. “How It Ends” follows with a more vulnerable edge, examining uncertainty and emotional risk in moments when love feels unresolved. Together, the songs establish Della Vonne’s ability to translate complex emotions into immersive, polished recordings.
Blending sultry tones with intimate songwriting, Della Vonne’s creative process is deeply intentional. She writes in complete silence, allowing each lyric and melody to take shape organically. This approach results in music that feels honest, focused, and emotionally resonant.
Though early in her career, Della Vonne is steadily building a catalog of original work while pursuing her long-term goal of becoming a GRAMMY-nominated artist. Raised with strong encouragement from her mother and grandmother, she learned early to trust her creative instincts. Influenced by artists, such as Oliver Michael and SYML, Della Vonne continues to refine her sound and establish her presence as a compelling new voice in contemporary music.
With “How It Ends” out now, we took some time to hear from Della Vonne. Read below to learn more about Della Vonne, the story behind “How It Ends,” and what’s to come.
Hi Della Vonne! Let’s start with how did you get your artist name?
Thank you for asking! My artist name is very special to me, Della comes from a combination of my maiden and married last names, as both are very important to me, and Vonne comes from my grandmother’s name, Lavonne, as she was always extremely supportive of every kind of creativity and really made sure music was always a part of my life.
What city are you from, and where are you based now?
I’m originally from Oklahoma City, but I’m now based out of Lafayette, Indiana.
At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music? How did you get started?
I started it at what feels like too late! I won’t say quite when, but it starts with a 3. I got started when I was actually browsing through listings for actor positions. I sent in some voice memos for a listed part, and got a message back that said, “while you’re not quite what I’m looking for, I have a friend who produces…” and he really showed me that it’s not as hard as I thought it was to get that dream up and running.
How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?
I would describe my style as your perfect “my life is a movie” playlist. I’m always thinking about the visuals that surround the music itself. I’ve always sort of tied the music that I listen to to “what kind of scene would this play over?,” and I’m excited for people to have those moments with my music as well.
Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?
Boy, do I. If it’s a hobby, I’ve tried it. I guess you could say my hobby is trying new hobbies. I really enjoy photography though.
Who are some of your main musical influences?
I think some of my main influences lately have been Billie Eilish.
Who would be your dream collaboration?
Right now, I’m absolutely obsessed with Oliver Michael, I’m pretty sure his song, “Running In The Dark,” has been my #1 on Spotify Recap for the last three years. He makes some amazing stuff, and I’d love to create something that moves people with him just as much as “RITD” does for me.
What’s one of the proudest moments of your music career so far?
I’m still pretty early on in my career, so honestly seeing my face on a Spotify page is crazy!
What would you say are the greatest lessons that you’ve learned so far?
I’m still learning this lesson, and that is to have patience. I am not a patient person in the slightest, but sometimes, you just have to sit and let the idea cook until it’s ready, you know? You can’t pull it out too quick or it won’t be the masterpiece it’s destined to become.
Now onto your release, “How It Ends.” What inspired this song? What is “How It Ends” about?
“How It Ends” was inspired by my last relationship, which ended on a bittersweet note. We met in college, then moved together after graduation. After moving through life and becoming real-life adults, we realized we had grown into different places, and while there was still that desire to be there for each other, we realized that it needed to be from a distance.
What was the inspiration behind the cover artwork for “How It Ends?”
The thought behind that was definitely the idea of “falling,” and the black background made it seem so ominous. I added in the angel wings to really give the idea that this was something that from an inside perspective seemed so angelic, so pure. It was only when you looked in from the outside that you realized something was wrong.
What was the creative process like when making “How It Ends?”
The creative process was a team effort with producer Alex Houton, we threw so many ideas back and forth on what details we could include in the song without making it an hour long, because there’s always so much detail you can go into with a break-up song. We talked a lot about the tonality of it, and how that would lead it through, and talked through a lot of emotions that came up when remembering all of the good and bad times both. He helped me really channel some of those emotions into some of the best moments of the song.
How long did it take to complete “How It Ends?”
“How It Ends” came to fruition over about 8 months, from many rewrites with my producer Alex Houton, to finding out just how high we could take that chorus, but we got it done and we did it so much justice in the end!
What is your favorite lyric in “How It Ends” and why?
I think my favorite lyrics would have to be “rescind our battle cries, and rekindle for the night,” both because they have such a strong message and really hammer down the central theme of the song, but also because when I started writing, I felt like I kept my lyrics pretty simple, and these were the lines that opened it up and let me know that I had what it takes to really branch out.
What do you hope fans take away from “How It Ends” and your music in general?
I hope fans take away a feeling of familiarity, and I hope it helps take them away from their own world and into a whole new world for a brief period, almost like a good book.
What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects, or do you have any upcoming shows that we should be on the lookout for?
I have so much coming up! My next release will be out on April 14th, it’s called “Unsteady.” It’s another break-up song (I tend to be a little more on the morose side), but this time, we’re not so sad about it. From there, I hope to get into a monthly routine of releasing, as I have so many more ready to go!
